There is computer search assistance available in the Library. Modern reading zones, digital catalog systems, and internet-enabled workstations create a conducive learning environment.Students have access to national and international publications, design magazines, and online databases

E- learning Studio

PiCA faculty can utilize the E-Learning studio, also known as the light board studio, to produce high-quality E-learning content for both students and the general community. Within this studio, instructors face the audience directly while creating content on a light board. Additionally, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art recording software and hardware to ensure the creation of top-notch online E-learning materials. Equipped with high-speed internet, smart screens, and recording tools, it supports digital content creation and live streaming.Students and faculty can access global lectures, MOOCs, and design tutorials from leading platforms. This facility bridges traditional architectural education with the digital future of learning.

Environmental Lab and Services Lab

In order to make students aware of the importance of designing according to the climate and sustainable aspects, an Environmental Science lab has been established. The lab consists of a live heliodon tool which helps in determining the at which sunbeams strike a physical model of a building or landscape, this helps architecture students design the building form, orientation and massing, shading devices, etc. It is an interactive hands-on teaching tool for testing and comparing alternative designs. The lab also consists of equipment to measure temperature, humidity, wind speed, and daylight levels that serve in educating students.

Lighting and Acoustics Lab

Lighting and Acoustics is an integral part of interior architecture and design, that allows students to understand technical and artistic concepts of the subject. Lighting lab focuses on lighting effects on materials and their elements encouraging students to understand the dynamics of light within a space. The Acoustics lab promotes methodologies, acoustic material characterization and sound quality analysis.

Construction Lab and Material Lab

The Construction technology lab intends to exhibit different materials of construction as available in the market (raw form) as well as the sample installation of various construction details; envisaging the course curriculum over the five years. Materials of construction may include samples of various types of stones (with different sizes used for specific applications in construction), samples of different classes of bricks, types of different wood / plywood with variable sizes available in the market, types of glass with varying thicknesses, tor steel samples, different steel sections (I, L, T C sections) and other contemporary materials of construction.

Surveying Lab

The objective of this lab is that the students use the laboratory as an integral part of their surveying coursework and obtain any topographic information that can help their design projects.Theodolite – Setting horizontal angle, angle measurement, etc.Level – Levelling operations by obtaining a precise horizontal line of sight.Other accessories – Aluminum staffs, prism poles, rod levels, tripods, metal pegs, target plates, compass, chain, water level tube, etc. Student use of the lab is preceded by appropriate safety training and instruction on the use and care for the equipment.

Carpentry Work

It is a shared facility on MES Pillai’s New Panvel campus. The carpentry workshop at Pillai University is fully equipped with high-quality woodworking tools and safety gear. Students gain hands-on experience with sawing, sanding, chiseling, and joint-making techniques. The space enables the construction of furniture prototypes, scaled models, and detail mock-ups. Expert instructors guide students through traditional and contemporary carpentry methods. This facility enhances material understanding and craftsmanship, essential to interior and architectural design.

Printing and Laser cutting Workshop

The lab is located on the ground floor and it is a shared facility of MES Pillai’s New Panvel campus The Pillai campus is furnished with the latest technology for students. The 3D printing technology helps students to make scaled models and analyse the design in real time. Laser-cutting machines help in making fast and detailed architectural and other allied subject models.

Model Making Workshop

Workshop with tools and equipment for creating architectural models and prototypes. This workshop is a creative hub with laser cutters, jigsaws, and a wide range of hand tools. Students construct detailed architectural models using wood, acrylic, cardboard, and other materials. Ventilated workspaces and safety equipment promote efficient and safe craftsmanship. Faculty guidance supports experimentation and structural model accuracy. The space enhances design communication through tangible representation.

Digital Fabrication Lab

Advanced lab with 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines for digital fabrication of architectural models. Equipped with 3D printers, CNC routers, and laser cutters, the lab empowers students to bring digital designs to life. Integration with CAD/CAM software bridges the gap between conceptual design and physical prototypes. This facility encourages innovation and precision through parametric design and rapid prototyping. Students engage in complex form-making and material experimentation. It aligns with contemporary architecture practices embracing technology.

Architectural Library

Extensive collection of architectural books, journals, and digital resources for research and reference. The library offers an extensive collection of books, journals, theses, and digital resources in architecture and allied disciplines. It provides quiet study areas, digital catalog access, and comfortable reading spaces. Updated regularly, the library ensures access to the latest knowledge and design theories. Students can research historical precedents, sustainable practices, and emerging trends. It serves as a vital intellectual resource for academic and design excellence.

Computer Lab

Modern computer lab with the latest architectural software for CAD, BIM, 3D modeling, and rendering. Outfitted with high-performance workstations and licensed architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and Adobe Suite. The lab supports rendering, 3D modeling, simulation, and documentation work. Students learn digital drafting and visualization, gaining technical proficiency. Constant internet access and data backup systems ensure seamless workflow. It provides the technological backbone for modern architectural education.

Conclave

Pica has two conclaves - Conclave 1 and conclave 2 with 156.44 sq. mt and 130.38 sq. mt of floor area respectively. The approximate capacity of both the conclaves is around 100 people. The School hosts an annual Conclave featuring renowned architects, researchers, and alumni in vibrant knowledge-sharing events. The state-of-the-art auditorium supports these sessions with advanced AV systems and dynamic stage settings. Conclave promotes dialogue on global architectural trends, innovations, and sustainable design. Students showcase projects, engage in panel discussions, and network with professionals. It’s a signature event fostering thought leadership and academic enrichment.

Centre of Excellence in Future Studies

This lab is located on the 7th floor and it is a shared facility of MES Pillai’s New Panvel campus. It is a special-purpose lab. The purpose behind the lab is that the cities in developing countries are rapidly expanding. India has 438 cities with a population of more than 100,000 people, accounting for 11% of the world’s cities. It is expected that the urban population will double in the next 25 years. Unfortunately, the development is unplanned and chaotic, resulting in inequitable distribution of public services, costly housing, a lack of adequate streets and roads, and insufficient open spaces. Therefore, the Pillai group of institutes has a dedicated facility where faculties and students from PiCA and other institutes on the campus do research work on poor urban planning, nonavailability of affordable housing, deficiency in water supply or electricity, unorganized traffic, poor quality public transport and parking facilities, poor healthcare system, waste management, air and water pollution, etc.
